  • My page on RedBubble now has two vaguely Doctor-Who-ish T-shirt designs! Well, I'm quoting the Doctor, anyway.

  • 05/16/09--01:13: Pssst, wanna t-shirt? (chan 1290521)
  • Well, I've spent most of today battling with the RedBubble upload system, but with the (yay) result that I have added two three more Doctor Who t-shirts, and also ten Blake's 7 t-shirts (one for each main humanoid character except for Travis II). All of these are simply portraits, no words, because I thought that would be generally more appealing, but if anyone has a special request for a caption, I might be able to make versions with captions. Not every t-shirt has enough room left over for a caption, hence the "might" in the previous sentence.

    Oh, the URL? Is http://kerravonsen.redbubble.com/

ETA: I've just finished doing a design based on my "Storm Crows" digital art. Added a very fancy border to it, like water ripples (yes, okay, so I'm on a water ripples streak...)

  • 01/22/11--23:37: Gimp Resources (chan 1290521)
  • Many years ago, I got myself an account on DeviantArt so that I could make comments. Today (after much renaming and zipping) I uploaded my first "works" to my account. I put "works" in quotes because they aren't works per se; they're Gimp brushes designed for LJ user-icons, fancy borders. I figured more people would find my brushes that way.

I am at http://kerravonsen.deviantart.com/ if any of you want to take a look.

As for putting anything else up there, I'm unsure, as I keep on getting mixed messages about whether DeviantArt is evil or okay. Any advice, folks?

  • 01/31/11--13:36: Zazzle is Tarnished (chan 1290521)
  • Zazzle, in their "wisdom" have removed every single one of my designs for "content violation". Even my "I'll explain later" shirt, which doesn't even contain illos. Apparently (according to their form letter) "Design contains an image or text that infringes on intellectual property rights. We have been contacted by the intellectual property right holder and at their request we will be removing your product from Zazzle???s Marketplace due to intellectual property claims"

    WHAT?

Someone can have multiple designs which say "BOB is a sacred name" and I can't have one that says "I'll explain later"?

I suspect it's because I tagged it with the phrase "doctor who". Colour me confused, considering that redbubble has a completely different attitude to things like that - they even have a Doctor Who themed "community" on their site.

So, sorry everyone, you can't buy t-shirts from me, because they've removed them all.

    Sh*t.

ETA: What is so completely unfair is that there are other people on zazzle who have Doctor-Who themed things, which are tagged as "doctor who" and they haven't been attacked. The "BOB is a sacred name" is tagged with "doctor who", and "This is a detonator" is tagged with "doctor who", and I think I even saw one with a Dalek on it (but I can't find it now). NOT FAIR!

  • 01/31/11--18:06: Zazzle responded (chan 1290521)
  • This is part of the letter I got in response to my first query (but not my second, they haven't responded to that yet)

Generally speaking, we cannot fulfill any orders containing a copyright or trademark protected title, name, or image. Examples of infringing material include:

    --pictures or names of celebrities
--names of characters from books, films, or television shows
--titles of books, feature films, television shows, or magazines
--images from films, television shows, video games, or the internet

So it seems that they are applying their TOS - "pictures or names of celebrities" and "names of characters from books, films or television shows" and "titles of books, feature films, television shows or magazines" - but they are still applying it unfairly and inconsistently.

  • 02/01/11--16:34: More From Zazzle (chan 1290521)
  • I heard back from Zazzle, and they said that the BBC had complained - though as someone said in my previous post on this, it seems strange that they would target me, and perhaps someone ratted on me. Whatever.
I pointed out their inconsistent policy application, and they thanked me for pointing out TOS violations. The products in question haven't been taken down (yet) but they might still be. If they aren't, that would be blatently unfair, rather than negligently unfair. We shall see.

Since I went to all the trouble of setting up my Zazzle store, I decided to put up some non-fannish stuff. Only one t-shirt so far, based on a lovely fractal I made using Evolvotron (a fractal-exploration program). Not sure what else I'll do; maybe some more fractals.
